Our week

Our weekly timetable is bursting at the seams! Children are invited to arrive at school from 8.30am, with breakfast on offer for children until registration at 8.45am. Children enjoy a range of lessons throughout the week. Read, Write Inc. (our school’s chosen Phonics scheme), English and Maths all take place on a morning, with a well-earned rest in between. During play time, children are offered a free, healthy snack to enjoy during their break if they wish. Children also enjoy a whole-school singing assembly in the KS2 hall on a Thursday morning too.

Lunch time takes place between 12.00pm-12.45pm each day with VIPERs, handwriting and wider curriculum lessons on the afternoon. While the days other wider curriculum lessons are taught vary week-to-week, P.E. is on a Monday. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit in school at the start of each half term.

At the start of every half term, parents/carers will be emailed a Parent PowerPoint to outline our curriculum coverage and key dates. Please continue to keep an eye on our school’s Facebook page for the most up to date information.

Class Dojo

Class Dojo is a behaviour management resource that we have recently adopted at Roseberry Primary School. School staff can encourage students for any skill or value — whether it’s working hard, being kind, helping others or something else. Class Dojo allows us to reward children with Dojo points for positive behaviour. Children love to watch the number of points they have earned increase over time! Once a child reaches 100 points, they can redeem them for a prize at the Dojo Tuck Shop!

Reading

Reading is of high priority at Roseberry Primary School. It is expected that children read a minimum of three times each week at home and for this to be recorded in their reading diaries. Mrs Martin or Mrs Baxter will sign your child’s reading diary each week and will also count and record the number of times your child has read at home. Reading diaries should be brought to school each day. Your child will receive regular 1:1 reading time with staff, volunteers, tutors and Book Buddies, who will sign your child’s reading diary.

Homework

Homework (Spelling and Maths) is provided to children each Friday and is due to be returned by the following Wednesday. Spelling homework, which introduces the next Year 2 spelling rule and corresponding word lists, can be found in your child’s green homework book. Maths homework is set via the online learning platform, Seesaw. Your child will need to use their individual QR code to log on to the Seesaw app or website. Each child’s personalised QR code can be found in their green homework book. If you need any help or support with accessing Seesaw in order for your child to complete their Maths homework, please speak to your child’s class teacher. We are also able to provide a paper copy of Maths homework for those who are unable to access Seesaw, as needed.
