At Roseberry Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We believe that every pupil deserves an inclusive, nurturing and ambitious education where individual strengths are recognised, barriers to learning are removed and success is celebrated.
Our approach to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is underpinned by high-quality adaptive teaching, early identification of need and a graduated approach to support. We work closely with pupils, parents and carers, and a range of external professionals to ensure that provision is tailored to meet each child's individual needs and enables them to make the best possible progress.
We support pupils across the four broad areas of need identified within the SEND Code of Practice:
Communication and Interaction
Cognition and Learning
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
Sensory and/or Physical Needs
Our SENDCo works in partnership with teachers and support staff to coordinate provision, monitor progress and ensure that pupils receive appropriate support through the Assess–Plan–Do–Review cycle. Where appropriate, we work closely with the Local Authority and external agencies to support pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and those requiring additional specialist support.
Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to ensure that pupils with SEND participate fully in all aspects of school life, including the curriculum, enrichment opportunities, educational visits and the wider school community. We value strong partnerships with families, recognising the vital role they play in supporting their child's learning and development. Parents and carers are involved throughout every stage of the graduated approach, ensuring that decisions are made collaboratively and in the best interests of the child.
At Roseberry Primary School, we are committed to creating a caring, inclusive and aspirational environment where every pupil feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed. By fostering confidence, independence and resilience, we aim to ensure that every child is equipped to thrive both in school and beyond.
