Our Personal Development curriculum plays a central role in achieving this vision. It provides children with the knowledge, understanding and experiences they need to make informed choices, build positive relationships and become active, responsible members of their communities.

Children today are growing up in an increasingly complex and interconnected world, where life takes place both online and offline. Whilst this presents exciting opportunities, it also brings challenges that require resilience, confidence and good judgement. Through our Personal Development curriculum, we support pupils to understand how to stay safe, maintain positive physical and mental health, and navigate the social, emotional and academic demands of modern life. We nurture important personal qualities including resilience, self-belief, empathy, critical thinking, teamwork and responsible decision-making.

Personal Development is embedded throughout life at Roseberry Primary School. It extends beyond discrete lessons and is reflected in our curriculum, assemblies, enrichment opportunities, wider school experiences and positive school culture. Our PSHE curriculum is built around three core themes: Relationships, Health and Wellbeing, and Living in the Wider World, enabling pupils to develop the knowledge and skills they need at each stage of their primary education.

We celebrate the individuality, talents and interests of every child. Through a wide range of extra-curricular activities, educational visits, leadership opportunities and enrichment experiences, we encourage pupils to discover new interests, develop existing talents and contribute positively to school life. Pupil voice is central to this work, with opportunities such as the School Council enabling children to shape and influence their school community.
