At Roseberry Primary School, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop as a compassionate, caring and responsible citizen. We encourage our pupils to develop a strong social conscience, take responsibility for their actions and make a positive contribution to their school, local community and the wider world.

To help children develop these important qualities, we:

• Provide a wide range of opportunities for pupil voice and leadership through roles such as the School Council, Eco Warriors, Prefects, Sports Leaders and Librarians.
• Encourage children to engage positively with their local community through projects that support local organisations, care homes and food banks.
• Organise fundraising events for local, national and international charities, enabling pupils to support causes that matter to them and respond to current global issues.
• Promote leadership, teamwork, responsibility and active citizenship across all areas of school life.

Pupil Leadership Team

Across Roseberry Primary School, we are proud of our dedicated team of pupil leaders who help to shape school life, represent the views of their peers and act as positive role models.

School Council

Our School Council is made up of elected representatives from across the school. Members are chosen by their classmates to represent pupil views and help make Roseberry an even better place to learn.

The School Council meets regularly to discuss ideas, celebrate successes and consider ways to improve school life. Discussions may include learning, behaviour, playtimes, school lunches, fundraising and community projects.

School Council members gather the views of their classmates, share feedback from meetings and work together to organise agreed initiatives and events. Through this role, children develop confidence, communication skills and an understanding of democracy and responsibility.

Eco Warriors

Each class elects an Eco Warrior to represent them. Our Eco Warriors work together to promote environmental awareness, encourage sustainable practices and lead initiatives that help make our school a greener place. They meet regularly to review progress and plan future projects.

Power of Women Ambassadors

Our Power of Women Ambassadors champion equality, challenge stereotypes and inspire others to aim high. They work with local organisations and female role models across the Tees Valley, sharing their experiences and promoting positive attitudes towards equality and aspiration throughout the school.

Prefects

School Prefects are selected by staff in recognition of their excellent behaviour, positive attitudes, strong values and commitment to the school community.

Prefects lead by example, support younger pupils and assist staff with a range of responsibilities around school. The role develops confidence, responsibility and leadership skills while encouraging pupils to become positive role models.

Librarians

Our Librarians help to ensure the smooth running of the school library and reading areas. They encourage a love of reading, help organise books and support younger children in choosing texts. This important responsibility develops independence, organisation and pride in helping others.

Heads of Houses

Our Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl work alongside our House Captains to lead our House Teams throughout the year.

Together they organise and promote a wide range of inter-house competitions and events, including sporting, academic and creative challenges. Every pupil has the opportunity to contribute points to their House, with the overall winners celebrating their success at the end of the academic year.

Sports Leaders

Our Sports Leaders are selected from Key Stage 2 and demonstrate enthusiasm, confidence and excellent leadership qualities.

They support PE lessons, organise playground activities, help with sports events and encourage younger pupils to enjoy being active. Through this role they develop teamwork, communication and organisational skills while promoting healthy lifestyles across the school.
