Child Protection (Safeguarding):
Roseberry Primary School is committed to the development of good practice and sound procedures to ensure that child protection concerns are handled sensitively, professionally and in way which supportive the needs of the child.

As a school, we are committed to:

  • establishing and maintaining an ethos where pupils feel safe and secure, and know that they can talk and be listened to;
  • ensuring that pupils know that there are adults in school who they can approach if they are worried or in difficulty;
  • including, in the curriculum, activities and opportunities which equip pupils with the skills they need to stay safe from abuse;
  • ensuring that every effort will be made to establish effective working relationships with parents and colleagues from other agencies.

If you have any concerns about a child, Nerys Thornton (Head Teacher) and Cathryn McCabe (Deputy Head Teacher) are the Designated Child Protection Officers (Designated Safeguarding Leads).
In the absence of Nerys Thornton (Head Teacher) and Cathryn McCabe (Deputy Head Teacher), Linda Hollinshead (Assistant Head Teacher) is the Deputy Child Protection Officer (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead).

The Children’s Hub (in Hartlepool) can be contacted by anyone who has a concern about the welfare or safety of a child or young person.

The service operates Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.
An answerphone service is available outside of these hours.

The Emergency Duty Team provides an out-of-hours response to emergency situations involving child protection, child care, mental health and other adult care service matters.
