The staff in Year 3 work very hard to support our children (Article 3). The class teachers are Miss Fletcher (3R) and Miss Williamson (3P). We are also very lucky to have Mrs Bowey in Year 3 who works with small groups of children to support their needs. We have 2 brilliant teaching assistants, Mr Bell and Mrs Kidson who work across the year group.
All of our learning is based around a topic. This half term, we are focusing on Ancient Egypt. Each half term, children will receive creative homework linked to the topic, this provides children with an opportunity to show in an exciting way what they have learnt (Article 13). In Science, we will be learning about light and shadows!
We think Maths and English are equally important and teach these lessons each day. In Maths we will be having a big focus on our 3,4 and 8 times tables, so make sure you are practising at home! We also encourage children to read three times a week at home and record this in your diary. We love to see how much reading you are doing at home.
The children will carry out PE once a week with Mr Lowe (Article 24). Please make sure your PE kit is in school all week!
If you have any questions about Year 3, please speak to Miss Fletcher or Miss Williamson.
Hoop Starz Visit
On Monday a group of Year 3 and 4 children visited Durham University Queens Campus to participate in a Hula Hooping workshop. The children learnt the techniques needed to hula hoop, they practised doing different moves and skills and also created a den out of hula hoops! All of the children had a hula-tastic time and loved participating in the workshop. A big well done to Charlie and Tiara who won the contest for hooping for the longest amount of time! We hope you all continue to practise on the playground with your peers.
