Design and Technology

Design Technology Lead: Mrs Kennedy

“Design Technology should develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world” (National Curriculum)

Overall Aims

At Roseberry, children receive a design and technology curriculum to prepare them by providing opportunities, responsibilities and experience they need to be successful in an ever-changing world. We want children to aspire to be like the chefs, architects, engineers and designers that they learn about at school. Children will gain a firm foundation of knowledge and skills to see them equipped to take on future learning.

How Design and Technology is delivered

Through carefully planned and taught learning activities, children develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. Within design and technology lessons, children combine practical skills with an understanding of aesthetics, social and environmental issues in order to design, make and evaluate a product which is fit for purpose.  Children are encouraged to take design risks to help them become problem solvers and enterprising citizens.
